Collaboration with the Iran National Standards Organization

The development and revision of technical standards play an important role in improving safety, quality, and compliance of automotive products with national and international requirements. This process requires a thorough understanding of regulations, knowledge of automotive technologies, and practical experience in testing and technical evaluation.

TAT Testing Laboratory, drawing on the technical expertise of its specialists and extensive experience in vehicle and component testing, has collaborated with the Iran National Standards Organization (INSO) in the development and revision of standards related to the automotive industry.

This collaboration provides an opportunity to incorporate practical laboratory experience into the standardization process and to examine technical requirements more closely, taking into account implementation conditions and the needs of the automotive industry.

Areas of Participation in Standards Development and Revision

TAT's technical involvement in standardization covers various aspects of vehicle safety and related equipment and components. The following standards and regulations are among those in whose development or revision TAT's specialists have participated.

1. Requirements for the Installation of Tyres on Vehicles

EU 458/2011

Proper tyre installation and compatibility with a vehicle's technical specifications are important factors affecting vehicle safety and performance.

This regulation establishes requirements for the installation of tyres on vehicles, including technical specifications, dimensions, load capacity, speed rating, and compatibility with the vehicle's design and intended use.

Assessment of these requirements during the vehicle type-approval process helps verify that the installed equipment complies with the applicable technical specifications and safety requirements.

2. Requirements for Temporary-Use Spare Tyres

ECE R64

Temporary-use spare equipment is designed to allow a vehicle to continue operating under specified conditions following damage to a regular tyre. Safe use of this equipment requires compliance with specific technical requirements.

ECE R64 establishes requirements for temporary-use spare units, certain systems associated with run-flat tyres, and tyre pressure monitoring systems.

These requirements are intended to support vehicle safety and ensure that drivers receive appropriate information regarding the operating conditions and limitations of the relevant equipment.

3. Vehicle Type-Approval Requirements for Safety and General Construction Characteristics

Iranian National Standard No. 6924 | EU 2021/535

Vehicle safety is not limited to the performance of active and passive safety systems. General vehicle construction characteristics, as well as the design and installation of equipment, also form part of type-approval requirements.

EU 2021/535 establishes technical requirements and procedures for the type-approval of vehicles, systems, components, and separate technical units with regard to safety and general construction characteristics.

This regulatory area covers a wide range of vehicle design and construction requirements and is relevant to assessing vehicle compliance with applicable technical regulations.

4. Requirements for Vehicle Towing Devices

EU 1005/2010

Towing devices are vehicle components whose design, strength, mounting position, and accessibility are important to vehicle safety and functionality.

EU 1005/2010 establishes requirements for towing devices fitted to motor vehicles and addresses their technical characteristics and installation conditions within the vehicle type-approval framework.

Compliance with these requirements helps ensure that towing devices can be used appropriately within their specified scope of application.

Connecting Laboratory Experience with the Standardization Process

One of the important aspects of involving specialized testing laboratories in standards development and revision is the ability to draw upon practical experience in conducting tests and assessing product conformity.

Knowledge of test methods, measuring equipment, testing conditions, and technical challenges associated with products enables standards requirements to be evaluated from a practical implementation perspective.

Through its activities in specialized vehicle and component testing, TAT seeks to apply its technical knowledge and experience to support standards development and contribute to improving the safety and quality of automotive products.

TAT Testing and Technical Evaluation Services

In addition to participating in standardization-related activities, TAT provides specialized vehicle and component testing and technical evaluation services within the scope of its laboratory capabilities and activities.

Vehicle manufacturers, automotive component suppliers, and other organizations operating in the automotive industry can explore TAT's available testing services and submit test requests through the laboratory's online test catalogue.
